Healthcare cleaning, written to your infection control policy.

GP surgeries, dental practices, physiotherapy and private clinics, consulting rooms and care settings. The specification is written to your infection control policy rather than ours, with colour-coded equipment, documented method statements and a record of every visit — because in a clinical setting the cleaning is part of the care.

What a practice manager actually needs

In a surgery, the cleaning is part of the clinical record.

A healthcare setting is inspected, audited and asked to evidence its cleaning in a way an office never is. Three things in how we work exist for that.

Method

Colour-coded, documented, and yours

Colour-coded cloths, mops and buckets so clinical, washroom and kitchen equipment never meet. Method statements written for your site and to your infection control policy — not a generic one with your name on it — and COSHH data sheets for every product before it enters the building.

Evidence

A record of every visit, every task

Cleaners check in and out with GPS-verified timestamps and work to a written schedule of tasks and frequencies. When an inspection or an audit asks what was cleaned and when, the answer is a document rather than a recollection.

Continuity

Cover, and supervisors who check

A clinical setting cannot skip a visit. Absence is covered by relief cleaners we employ for that purpose, and full-time mobile supervisors audit against the specification in person rather than waiting for a complaint.

What the clean includes

The specification, written for a clinical setting.

This is the shape most practices settle on. Yours is written at the site visit to your own infection control policy — frequencies, products and methods included.

Every visit

Clinical and patient areas

  • Consulting and treatment rooms — couches, surfaces, sinks and taps to your protocol
  • Waiting areas, reception and children's areas presented before the first patient
  • Patient and staff washrooms cleaned, sanitised and restocked
  • Touch points — handles, push plates, rails, chair arms, card readers
  • Clinical waste left sealed and segregated for your licensed carrier
  • Staff kitchens and rest rooms
  • Bins emptied, liners replaced, recycling separated
  • Floors mopped with colour-coded equipment throughout
Weekly or fortnightly

The reset

  • Internal glass, partitions and screens
  • Skirting, ledges, sills and waiting-room seating detailed
  • Fridge and appliance interiors in staff areas (never clinical fridges)
  • Washroom fittings descaled and floor edges detailed
  • Stairwells, corridors and store rooms
Periodic

Scheduled into the year

  • Deep clean of treatment rooms to protocol
  • Hard floor machine cleaning, stripping and sealing
  • Carpet and upholstery extraction in non-clinical areas
  • High level — light fittings, vents, ledges above reach
  • External windows, signage and entrance
  • Post-works cleans after refurbishment

Periodic items sit inside the contract on a calendar or are booked when needed, on the same invoice. Infection control cleaning → · every commercial service →

When the cleaning happens

Between the last patient and the first.

Clinical areas are cleaned when they are empty. Most practices run one of these patterns, and larger sites combine two.

Evening

After the last clinic. Treatment rooms, waiting areas and washrooms reset for the morning — the most common pattern for a surgery or dental practice.

After the last appointment

Early morning

Before the first patient, for practices with early clinics or evening lettings.

Before the first appointment

Daytime presence

A cleaner on site through clinic hours for larger practices — washrooms and waiting areas kept right between sessions, with treatment rooms turned around on request.

Part-day or full-day

Extended hours and weekends

For practices running weekend clinics or extended access, scheduled around the rota rather than against it.

Agreed around the rota

Access, alarm codes and keyholding are arranged during mobilisation and held under our procedures.

Settings we clean for

A dental surgery and a physio clinic are not the same specification.

Healthcare cleaning is a category. These are the settings it usually means, and what differs between them.

01

GP surgeries and health centres

Several consulting rooms, treatment rooms, a busy waiting area and washrooms used by everyone. Daytime washroom cover is often the deciding factor.

02

Dental practices

Surgeries with their own decontamination routine that stays with the practice; we clean to the boundary of it and everything outside it, to your protocol.

03

Physiotherapy, osteopathy and private clinics

Treatment couches, changing areas and gym floors. Product choice matters — fragrance-free and residue-free is usually specified.

04

Opticians, audiology and pharmacies

Retail front, clinical back. Cleaned before opening so the shop floor is right for the first customer.

05

Care and residential settings

Communal areas, dining rooms and staff space, cleaned around residents' routines with teams who understand the building is a home.

06

Veterinary practices

Consulting rooms, waiting areas and kennel blocks, with products and methods agreed for animal areas.

Healthcare is one of twelve sectors. Public sector and school cleaning have their own pages — or see all twelve sectors and commercial cleaning as a whole.

One supplier, not four

Consumables, waste and windows should not be three more suppliers.

Buildings rarely need only cleaning. Two parts of the business exist so that the rest does not become four more contracts, four more invoices and four more people to chase.

NowThen Services

Consumables, waste and the outside of the building

Managed on the same schedule as the clean and billed on the same invoice, so usage is tracked against what the building actually gets through rather than a standing order that arrives whether you need it or not.

  • Washroom supplies
  • Sanitary units
  • Waste & recycling
  • Confidential waste
  • External windows
  • Signage cleaning
NowThen People™

Staff, when the building needs more than cleaners

The same recruitment, vetting and HR that puts our cleaning teams in place, used to staff the other roles a site runs on — employed by us, covered by us when someone is off.

  • Reception & front of house
  • Caretaking
  • Kitchen & catering
  • Security

None of it is compulsory. Plenty of contracts are cleaning and nothing else — but if you are currently managing four suppliers for one building, raise it at the site visit.

From enquiry to first clean

Four steps, and a price that comes from the building rather than a rate card.

Anyone who quotes without seeing the site is guessing at your hours. This is what happens instead.

1

Site visit

We walk the building with you — the areas, the hours you need covered, the standard you are working to, and the things the last contractor kept getting wrong.

2

Written proposal

A specification and a price, with the tasks and frequencies set out plainly. Insurance certificates and compliance documents come with it, not on request later.

3

Mobilisation

Team assigned and inducted on site, access and alarms arranged, RAMS written for the building, consumables and equipment set up. A start date, not a vague fortnight.

4

Supervision

Mobile supervisors audit against the specification, your named contact stays the same, and the schedule flexes as the building changes.

Sheffield first, and staffed locally everywhere else.

We are registered and based in Sheffield and most of our contracts are here. Further afield, a contract is staffed with a team recruited near the building and supervised on a regional route — distance is a logistics question, not an obstacle.

Before you enquire

The questions practice managers ask.

Q.01Can you work to our infection control policy rather than a generic one?

That is how it is done. Your policy sets the frequencies, methods and products; our method statements are written to it, site by site, and supplied with the proposal. If the policy changes, the specification changes with it.

Q.02Do you use colour-coded equipment?

Yes. Cloths, mops and buckets are colour-coded so clinical, washroom and kitchen equipment never meet, and the coding is written into the site method statement so a supervisor can audit it.

Q.03Do you handle clinical waste?

We leave clinical waste sealed and segregated for your licensed carrier — we do not transport it. General waste, recycling and sanitary units can be managed as part of the contract.

Q.04What products do you use in clinical areas?

Whatever your policy specifies. Where it does not, we propose products with COSHH data sheets supplied in advance, and fragrance-free and residue-free options for treatment areas. Nothing enters the building without a data sheet.

Q.05How are cleaners vetted for a healthcare setting?

Every cleaner is directly employed — recruited, reference-checked, inducted and managed by us — our own employees, not agency staff. Where your setting requires enhanced vetting, that is agreed at the proposal stage and built into mobilisation, and cleaners are inducted on your site specifically.

Q.06Can you evidence the cleaning for an inspection?

Yes. Cleaners check in and out with GPS-verified timestamps and work to a written task schedule, and supervisors audit against it. That gives you a record of what was cleaned, when and by whom — the thing an inspection actually asks for.

Q.07What happens if our regular cleaner is off?

Relief staff cover it — cleaners we employ who hold no round of their own — and they are inducted to your site's protocol before they cover it. Your supervisor will tell you rather than leave you to notice.

Q.08Which areas do you cover?

Sheffield first, then Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Greater Manchester, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire — 25 towns and cities. See the full list →
